Welcome to the IronAtlas

The IronAtlas aims to make a contribution to expanding our knowledge of iron metabolism in humans. While science has made considerable advances in recent years in research on the biological significance of iron and its metabolism, this knowledge in the form of specialist articles in scientific/medical journals is reserved for a small group of specialists.
This knowledge was processed in co-operation with those specialists, and is now available to the general public. For this purpose a visual approach was chosen: the complex processes have been simplified by depicting them in the form of images, illustrations and animations, without omitting details or losing sight of the overall picture. Of course, the contents are completely referenced to the relevant background literature.
The result is a collection of attractive electronic documents that you can use for your own studies or for presentations.

P.S: The IronAtlas will soon be expanding to include new topics; it is worth checking the site regularly!
